About Me

My name is Marcus Hampton. I was born and raised in Buffalo, N.Y., and I have always had a passion for dogs. I started Schutzhund in the year 2000, when I met my mentor, Owen Tober, founder of "The Original" Schutzhund Club of Buffalo. That's where I became the Club Helper along side Owen. Our large Club member- ship consisted of multiple breeds, ranging from show dogs to working dogs. A lot of my foundation training was to bring out the best of some the softer dogs in the club....dogs that didn't want to engage, were in avoidance, dogs that didn't want to bark or bite. I must say, I learned alot by working dogs like this in the Club, which allowed me to understand how to read dogs. And not only that but also having a good feel for each and every dog. And to be honest, I think a lot of new Helpers or anybody looking to be a training Helper I should say, is missing out on this type of training. Period! Just because too many young guys or young girls have the luxury to start out with some of the better dogs that are top notch, like a III dog or a II dog. It's just my personal opinion. I just think the best way is to learn how to bring a dog out and understand what's in front of them. Its nobody's fault the way they come up because I remember when I was coming up, I was just Excited. But I also know that I was gifted from God to be with dogs. Before I knew of any type of training, I was catching stray dogs as a kid and I used to put dogs in my club houses. Get home from school and first thing I did was go to my dogs, even though I would get in trouble for not going home first. I can go on and on with this......So let me skip a bunch. My first year as a Helper I did my very first Trial and that's when the Blue Books were out. Jim Hill was the first person to certify me as a Helper, and I was rated Club Level. I was very proud!

To date, I have been an active Club member, official Certified Club Helper and progressed to National Level Helper. I have worked National Events, as well as a police DPO trial. I have also worked many Training Seminars and Helper Seminars. Because of my passion for training, I still offer private lessons.
